Dialect Trio is one of the busiest bands that I know. They manage to record and produce a lot of original music inspired by chicha, blues, afro-funk, dub, Afro-Colombian and other global music. They really aren’t limited to any genre or style.
Russ Bledsoe is a very unique guitarist. This time around he shows his diversity even more so. I hope to hear more from him as the years go by. I imagine great things coming his way. Not to mention, (but apparently I am) Russ is also an excellent wordsmith.
Matthew Mansfield is the producer of the year in my opinion. His thick driving bass lines have that deep dub sound which he fuses perfectly with the many genres they cover.
Robby Astrove’s drums are of the highest caliber. He doesn’t go unnoticed but doesn’t over-power either. He keeps it tight and loose just the way I love it.
B’alam is their newest EP. With it you choose your price for the purchase and get the original track and two really brilliant other versions. Actually the A Hypothetical Circus version is my favorite with the insane guitar playing by Russ using a bow alone with the vocal samples flowing perfectly. Also you get the stems to the tracks for your own remixes or samples to use as you like.
